Studio Squig Launches Social Purpose Business

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Studio Squig, a Social Purpose Business, based in London, UK. Rebecca Finley-Schidlowsky had the pleasure of helping build the company’s first strategic business plan over the past year by working closely with the founder. The founder was adamant about building a company that has an ethical supply chain and provides opportunities for underserved female communities.

“If you are not making a difference in other people’s lives, you shouldn’t be in business. It’s that simple.”

Sir Richard Branson

A key framework that was used early in the planning process was the Japanese concept of “Ikigai”, which means “a reason for being”. The framework encourages individuals to seek a reason to wake up in the morning that combines: 1) What you love; 2) What the world needs; 3) What you can be paid for; and, 4) What you are good at. If you can find a path that combines all four elements, you have found your “Ikigai”. In the case of Studio Squig, we were able to build a strategic business plan that combined the founder’s passion for creating and her desire to empower female artists, with the development of a for-profit business.
